Surface-mounted sliding doors
As the name suggests, the surface-mounted sliding door is visible whether open or closed. The track allows the door to be suspended and slide visibly on the side where the door slides along the wall to create the opening.
The galandage sliding door
Unlike a surface-mounted door, a galandage sliding door slides between two walls when opened. The major advantage is that it saves wall space for a picture frame, mirror or piece of furniture, thanks to the absence of movement.
It's both an aesthetic and practical solution for small spaces. The galandage door is a little more complex to install than an exposed sliding door or a simple hinged door, as it has to be planned for during the masonry or partitioning work. This type of door is therefore preferable for new constructions or major renovations.
